FAQs
The answers to your questions
Are you qualified and registered to operate drones commercially?
Yes. Ryno Drone Photography holds the A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) and General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC), and maintains the relevant CAA operator registration.
Every project is assessed individually, with flight planning, airspace requirements, permissions and operational limitations considered before a flight. The type of operation permitted depends on the aircraft, location and applicable regulations.
What insurance cover do you have?
Ryno Drone Photography holds specialist commercial drone insurance, including £5 million public liability cover, providing reassurance for businesses, venues, event organisers and private clients.
Our insurance is specifically designed for professional drone operations and meets the relevant requirements for commercial drone activities, including the applicable aviation insurance requirements under Regulation (EC)785/2004.
Proof of insurance can be provided on request as part of our booking process.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my booking?
Drone operations are weather dependent, and safety is always our top priority. Before every flight we assess the conditions, including wind, rain, electromagnetic interference, visibility and any other factors that may affect safe operation.
Not all poor weather prevents a flight, for example overcast conditions can often provide excellent lighting for aerial photography and video. However, if conditions are unsuitable and the drone cannot be operated safely, we will discuss the available options with you.
Where possible, we will aim to reschedule your booking for a suitable alternative date or time. For events that cannot be repeated, such as one off celebrations or occasions, we will work with you to find the best solution.
Weather related booking terms, including any applicable deposits, refunds or rescheduling arrangements, are confirmed during the booking process.
I live/work close to an Airport's no-fly zone, can I hire you?
Yes, potentially. Many drone flights near restricted areas can still be completed with the correct planning, permissions and coordination.
Ryno Drone Photography has experience operating within controlled areas, including locations close to Exeter Airport's Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ), where flights require careful planning and coordination.
Before any flight, we assess the location and consider relevant factors including airports, military airfields, helipads, low-flying military activity areas, protected sites and any other airspace restrictions that may apply.
If you think your location could be within a restricted area, please get in touch as early as possible. We will assess the requirements and advise whether the flight can be safely and legally completed.
My business/property is on Dartmoor will you still be able to use your drone?
Possibly. Providing the landowner or someone acting on their behalf is able to approve the flight, we can often work with the additional local considerations that come with operating on Dartmoor.
Some locations may require additional permissions or approvals, particularly where land is managed by Dartmoor National Park Authority, is common land, or has public access considerations. Where additional permissions, administration or costs are required, these will be discussed in advance and may be passed on to the client.
Every location is assessed individually to ensure the flight can be carried out safely, legally and responsibly.
How long will I have to wait for my videos/photographs?
We aim to have your final photographs and videos ready in your secure online gallery within 14 days, starting from the day after the final day of flying. Once complete, you will receive a link to access and download your finished content.
For larger or more complex projects, such as extensive editing, multiple locations or larger events, timescales may vary. If this applies to your project, we will discuss the expected delivery timeframe during the booking process.
Do you offer ground photography and videography as well as aerial services?
Yes. Alongside our drone services, we offer ground-based videography for vehicles, businesses and suitable promotional projects.
Our ground photography is focused on sports and action, including suitable motorsport and outdoor sporting events. We do not offer general wedding, portrait or studio photography.
Ground services can be booked independently or combined with aerial footage where appropriate.
Payment Options
Where possible, we prefer payment by bank transfer, as this helps keep administration costs down. However, payment links and card payments are also available if preferred.
Payment arrangements will be discussed when booking. Depending on the project, a deposit may be required to secure your date, with the remaining balance payable as agreed before completion of the service.
